Google Ranking Factors - Keywords in Meta Description - SEO
Welcome back to another episode so today
I want to continue the conversation on
the 200-plus null and speculated the ranking
factors that Google uses to determine
the position of a website in the search
engines now today's topic of
the conversation is the keywords in the
meta description of a website web page
article blog posts etc so what is the
meta description well it's a short
paragraph roughly about 155 characters
the law that gives you a brief description
of the overall content of that
article blog post website is about so is
this a and appointing factor for your
a website not really in 2009 Google stated
that meta descriptions and keywords are
not a ranking factor for the algorithm
but it's still important that you have a
well formatted meta description the
the reason why is when a person does a
search in Google they're going to type
out a phrase like how to build a website
and they're going to get a bunch of
results typically about 10
results per page depending on how many
advertisements are on that giving search
the page now a person searching is going to
scan that page they're going to look at
the title of the article which we spoke
about before and also going to look at
the Meta Description because of Google
takes that meta description and uses
that and displays it within the search
engine results so it is important for
your click-through links so while it may
not be as in point for the actual
the algorithm itself it is extremely
important for you to have a well-worded
forum formatted excuse me meta
the description that will detail what the
content of that article is going to be
about all right so hopefully you found
this episode informative where I covered
the importance of a well formatted
meta description I'm going to show you
very quickly what one looks like and
typically you want it to be 155
characters long that way the full
the description ends up within the search
results it's important for your
click-through rates but not as important
for the actual algorithm itself just
make sure you have a well-formatted meta
the description that is descriptive of the
content and you want to make sure that
it matches and coincides with what's
actually going to be featured within
that article all right hopefully you
found this episode informative and if
you did give us a thumbs up and if you
